Scavenging Aussies

For anyone who owns an Aussie, they must know how much they LOVE food.  What always have baffled me about my Aussies, or any other dog for that matter, is how they can turn up their noses at perfectly good food offering but not even think twice about hitting the garbage .... proof is the interest in the Compost, or any other undesirables that they might scavenge while out for a walk along the streets.

Yes I am certain if our Buddy boy was able to get himself in that compost he would have been chowing down on Watermelon rinds, Banana and Potato Peelings.  Really though, what do we know?  the nutrition is in the skins is it not?

Cuteness Galore

The five puppies from our Extraordinary 8 2014 Litter that already have Forever Homes, not even 2 weeks old.  We even have one that is into Yoga already... check out that move !!!

Yesterday day it was such a lovely Spring Day our "big" pup, Buddy, had himself some run about the field fun.

Something to look forward in time for all the puppy's Forever Homes in another 6 weeks time.

Aussies LOVE Winter !!!

We have been getting lots of Winter weather the last couple week at North of Wiarton where we live with our four Australian Shepherds, The "Checkerboard Aussies".  Good for them, as Aussies LOVE Wiinter fun.  

Bandit & Lexus having lots of play fighting time yesterday.

Missy Mercedes having the time of her life outside with me yesterday, loving every second of being out in the Snow.

Today we had a Blizzard hit Bruce County.  Everything is closed up like a drum, major highways, and side roads alike.  That did not stop us from having some Fun with our Buddy today !

Buddy just knows Rob has a treat in his pocket ... please Dad, can I ???

Then the fun begins.  Buddy as much as saying, "where you calling me, Mom?", and off into the snow he is gone like a "shot" !

It's A Puppy Pool !

"We all know Buddy is going to be a Father very soon, so we here at The "Checkerboard Aussies" decided we would have a Pool on how many puppies will be born."

Yesterday we took a couple photos of our roly poly Missy Mercedes, our first time Mother to be, and posted them to The "Checkerboard Aussies" Facebook Page with a caption that went something like this:

"The "Checkerboard Aussies" are going to have a pool. In order to qualify you must LIKE their Facebook page (the page, not a post or photo on their page, please). Mercedes is due on or about the 28th of April 2013. Post your "guess" on how many puppies she will have, and whoever guesses the right number will be entered into a draw to win a Gift Certificate. Please feel free to "share" this Puppy Pool with your family & friends. Best luck to the Winner once the happy day has come and gone !!!  I will be announcing this shortly after the big day has arrived."

Our Buddy Boy

 Buddy and I had ourselves some "quality" Mom and Buddy time just the other day.  We took an extra long time out and about together.  We also had ourselves a sit at the laundry line stoop to brush out one very full mane.  The brushing was all one sided, but the bonus kisses were worth it all.

I can not believe our two year old Bi-Blue Merle Buddy is going to be a father for the very first time in a short 2 weeks time.

"Buddy has came a long way since coming to us almost a Year ago.  He is still the "sprinter" of the bunch, with probably being the fastest of our four I am pretty sure."

"Very active with still the "odd" manner issues we are still working on ... but still, how could you NOT LOVE a face like this with such a sweet happy *smile* coming back at you?  He does have a very big place in my Heart."

2011 "Buddy" Testimonial

We were really happy today to receive a Testimonial from another "Checkerboard Aussie" Forever Home.  

Julie and Mark, along with their 7 year old son, Jack, came out in 2011 to see our last "One & Only" puppy from our very first litter, The "Magnificent Seven".  They immediately fell in love with him.  

This is the note I received from Julie today:

This is our Checkerboard Aussie, "Buddy" who has been part of our family since 2011. From the moment we brought Buddy home from Cindy and Rob's, he and our son Jack have been inseparable. It is such a great thing for Mark and I to watch these two grow up together. We love our Checkerboard Aussie!

"This is a note Jack wrote to us last month.  The photo is of "Buddy" in 2011, at about 6 weeks old."

"These are photos which had been taken under today's date and sent to me by Julie of Buddy & his boy, Jack.  Wow they are having a "blast" together by the looks of these photos.  That is one handsome boy Buddy is, along with his cute boy, Jack."
